Karen and Zack generously donated money to pay for about a year of hosting of SyTy.net in Jack's (Icarus-54) honor. Karen said that he found so much enjoyment in the friends he made both online and in person through the site, and happily spent a lot of time both reading and posting on the site, that he would have wanted this done.
For those too new to have had the opportunity to meet Jack, he was one of those guys that you couldn't get away from, nor did you want to. He was always happy to chat for however much time either of you could afford...about trucks, politics, nature, one of his 50,000 historical stories, or anything you could ever want to talk about. He was a great guy.
Unfortunately, we all lost him to mesothelioma about 10 months ago. I can't believe it's almost been a year now.

Jack has a nice collection of vehicles which includes one sy, one ty, one sgt, and i think they had a normal s10 also if i remember correctly, but I only ever cared about his sy and ty if i'm honest
Sy10 (Zack, son) and Karen (wife) brought his ty and sy down to Carlisle last summer and plopped them inside the building, and had a nice little corner dedicated to Jack. The previous year i'll never forget Jack and Zack zipping around racing on the rental scooters
This is how i remember jack:
(This was at a WrenchFest at MattW's)
Always simply shooting the shit while flying under the radar. He was kind of quiet in a large group setting, partially because his lungs just weren't up to the task in his last few years with the damn mesothelioma. But man, Jack loved to talk trucks. He was always rebuilding his Sy motor even though it would only have like 100miles on it with nothing wrong at all, just because he always had to tinker and try new setups. Setups that most people never tried, thought to try, or would ever think to spend the time trying it out.
I know I don't speak for myself when I say Jack is missed. I'm glad to say I met and befriended Jack and his family. And I hope that Zack and Karen continue to be a part of the syty family and continue to come to events. Thankfully they like the trucks themselves, and I'm positive that as a group we'll continue to bring back great memories and make new ones as a family for years to come. We as a group even finished up a couple mods Jack was in the middle of and gave the Ty a quick cleaning and an impromptu picnic/gathering to honor jack and surprise Karen:

Thanks again Karen and Zack for donating to the site. I hope to see you two soon.
