JSM and Ole Reliable Syclone

As many know I have Daron's original Syclone is at my house for a major mechanical upgrade.

As it is finally coming toghether, pieces arriving etc time to post some pictures.

Overall Goal for the truck is mid 11's, everyday including sunday. Drive it to work, across country, etc and not worry.

So how do you get that, take a known 10 second combination and just nut push it hard.

Motor: Almost identical specs to Phil Longs/Turbotime Combination.
Transmission: Of course JSM 4l80e and be done once and for all.
Front suspension: upgraded to my coilovers almost 2 years ago. 6k Mile later they are covered in dirt but otherwise in great shape.
Rear Suspension:To be determined. Playing with a few things but lots to change and new parts on order.

Next year some time Daron plans to get the truck painted, or has thought about it. The many years in Ohio, and 116k miles has taken it's toll.

So keep an eye in the next couple weeks as progress ramps up quickly.

Is there any way you can just powdercoat the body so I dont have to worry about the paint?

Transmission? I thought you were just going to do a flush and fill??? And who is this Phil Long character?

Ahh..... "That" Phil Long... ;-) How are things going?

Jeff called, Tranny is done and at the house. I just hope he glues my rear view mirror back on...

I had to glue mine back on myself when he borrowed my truck.......He then proceeded to be the cause for the latch breaking on the sliding rear glass the very next weekend......I think Jeff should stick to metal fab, and stay the hell away from glass :D

I'll take my camera with me when we go to do the majory surgery soon. Get some nice high quality pics for you guys.

Re: JSM and Ole Reliable Syclone

And to think, Daron shipped his truck to me without a rear view mirror.

I get blamed for everything, I see how it is.

I think Dobrick was the one to start the whole mirror ordeal in Hardman's truck.

Re: JSM and Ole Reliable Syclone

This weekend the new motor and 4l80e was installed.

Engine/motor (depending if you are engineer or not) needs lots of external things hooked up.

ABS is deleted

Transmission needs a few lines hooked up.

Progress is good. Next day or two the intake will be installed.

Re: JSM and Ole Reliable Syclone

Long overdue update.

I still have Daron's syclone, although most of the work was done several months ago. He was leaving and currently in Iraq so we made decision to just leave it with me -vs- sitting at his house parked until his return.

With that tuning was put on back burner for better weather, etc.

Last night we finished up a few things on the truck, installed the rear sway bar and got a good tuning session in.

Motor is 75# injectors. For some reason it needs a custom chip. At 6pm last night truck would start and idle but any change in throttle would cause it to go way rich, lean, or die.

After 20 miles of driving truck runs MUCH better. Tip in, out, and cruise is close enough now to begin the tweaking stages. The 4l80e computer is shifting as it should (that tranny still makes me smile when we drive a truck with one).

Jeremy didn't think it was a good idea to continue tuning last night for some reason, not sure why since gas gauge was reading empty, windshield wipers were still at my house, it was raining, no muffler on truck, new tabs for it still in my truck, not on daron's sy, and 1 headlight was burned out, and it was 10pm at night). These guys have no sense of adventure anymore.

On a good note I had to call Jeremy this morning as I totally forgot last night the rear suspension was missing a few things like leaf springs, and a few new items added in like coilovers. In the tuning phase I was not even thinking about the new design back there. In fact neither of us noticed it. I think that is a good thing. No odd noises, no odd vibrations, moving around, etc.

I thought it started with a B, but I think half the cities do.

I think he has his email listed in his profile, shoot him an email, he checks it every couple days or so.

Yea driving those last 10 miles when it is raining @ 55mph on the highway was interesting to say the least. Also it had expired Ohio tags, A texas all-state insurance card and neither one of us were this Daron fella that it was licensed too.

When we left the shop I asked him why he wanted me to drive instead of Dobrick. Jeff said he figured if we got pulled over with me driving we would just get a ticket(s). If Dobrick was driving with his driving record, they would go to jail.
