Keep beaking wheel studs

I have OEM Z06 wheels and have a 1" spacer in the back. Everytime I turn around I am snapping the studs off of these damn things. Its more with the drvier side but have ahd to replace ALL original studs. I broke three of my "new" studs today and had to limp home. Luckily I was just down the street. Has anyone else had this problem?

have you been running the long wheel studs like for racing a 10sec car? those i would think is what you should have with that size spacer

acorn vs shank style.

Ed, have a part # by chance? I assume this would allow me to use the spacers with no extra studs? Ive got to do something because this is getting old. The original studs are definately cheesy.

Re: Keep beaking wheel studs

as far as i know, any stud that has longer length same thread, whether its chevy or not, you can get studs from auto parts places or other them from racing parts places as far as i know. how do you think all these cars get into the 10s, The studs on them are like double the length i think here in NJ its required of any vehicle going 10s or faster i think or was it 11s

Take off one of your lugs take a pic and post it up. I had a stripping problem on mine i had to use different lugs they where bottoming out a touch and pushing up against the spacer streching the studs and stripping them. If they where a bit longer they would also break the studs.

lm using 2inch adapters on my s-10. spacers are risky at one inch and stress out the stud. do they break at the base or half way up the stud. my adapters recommend 80lbs of torque per stud.

consider switching to a adapter. skulte.com

Re: Keep beaking wheel studs

if you need 1 inch or more spacing i would reconmend a spacer of this design:

Re: Keep beaking wheel studs

Seriously, ditch the spacers asap, a longer stud wont help your problem, spacers just move the stress point on the stud out further and causes more leverage to be applied to the stud breaking them, what you need is a hubcentric wheel adapter, this mounts on the hub and uses a new set of lugs to mount the wheel to, this prevents either set of studs from seeing more leverage than they are designed for.

Re: Keep beaking wheel studs

I use what you are talking about. So far, I haven't had any issues yet since I had them fixed again. It has involved about a week of re-torquing. Had to check them every day. My ultimate solution is going to be to get a different rear end to eliminate the spacers altogether. One thing I notice, is that my rear wheel wobbles on the spacer, not sure if the wheel hub is bent or the spacers suck? Ill figure it out on of these days soon here.

Re: Keep beaking wheel studs

spacers suck plain and simple

Shoot me a PM if you really want to ditch your rear end. I got a heavily built 9" that is stock dimensions and offsets.
