Heat wrapped the down pipe and the turbine side of the turbo. Also re-routing the upper ic lines.

sorry, but if you didn't skimp on the BOV, then why would you skimp on the exhaust wrap? why not get a turbo blanket? they have assorted colors to match that anodized blue BOV. in my oppinion these syty's should get nothing but the best or atleast very close to it. sorry bro, but just my .02.

I agree, wrap the down pipe, but get a turbo blanket for the turbo. They look better, function better, although they do cost a bit more.

Here's and example

Re: New work done.

My under hood temps were through the roof...(thanks Texas)..lol. i'll use the digital pyrometer when its all done and see how far down it is.

There was some threads, back in the day, about what happens when this stuff gets tranny fluid on it-
insta-fire.

It also gets water behind it, and causes the underlying pipe to corrode quickly...
Race teams use it, because they don't care about longevity.

I would also recommend going farther back on the down pipe with the wrap, i have noticed a lot more heat wanting to come thru the pass floor board as the heat isnt leaving under the hood, it can melt carpet! Ive seen it!

Re: New work done.

Been wrapping DP's for years. In a moisture climate, it causes mild steel and even aluminized steel to corrode over time. Have seen headers wrapped with it that were mild steel and even cheaper SS and the tubes blew apart. On the other hand the wrap does its job on DP's and crossover pipes when installed properly. Any flamable fluid on it is not a good idea. I say the benefits outweigh the downside of using wrap. Unfortunately I see 75% of the cars with it, have it installed half hazardly and half assed. Cases like that give the wrap a bad rap.

When I installed my wrap I also used the spray-on resin sealer. It's intended to help prevent moisture penetration. When I removed the wrap about a year later I didn't note any corrosion issues with the downpipe.

My temps went up on my pyrometer gauge about 400-500 degrees when i wrapped my DP,so i took it off. Just didn't want to over heat my wideband sensor. But it seemed to spool the same for only having it wrapped for a day.
