No boost

Re: No boost

Big Mike,

The linkage rod has been altered and didn't make any boost, but I didn't reboot the system prior to that change. I will try it today and let you know.

I am trying to schedule some dyno time this weekend, but I have to figure out the Map sensor wiring to install the 2 bar. I am sure this can be done, are there any objections in doing this?

Re: No boost

MAP sensor sits by the upper intake, next to the coil. There is no wiring to worry about - you just unplug one and swap the 2 bar sensor in. There may be a tie-wrap holding it on as well.

If your chip is set up to run with a 3 bar then that is your only main concern with doing that swap.

Re: No boost

ALCON,

Map sensor, I purchased the sensor for my VIN. It doesn't connect to the factory harness (which has not been altered). I am not sure why what's being sold is not a direct fit as everyone suggest. I am taking it to a import turbo shop tomorrow. He has expierence on the Ty/Sy from back in the day and have been looking for one.
I will drop in some new plugs/wires/rotor and cap tomorrow prior to coming over to his shop.

I will keep you all posted

Re: No boost

well, learned a few things today. The chip from Pitbull (ATR) requires a 3 bar map sensor. I am not sure what happened, but she is making boost now. I have the Apexi boost controller set at 1.20hg, roughly 15 lbs of boost. The idle is still a lil off. So, after the engine cools down, I will install the new plugs/wires/dist & cap. Hopefully this will take care of the lil engine misfire.

I will keep you all posted on the progress.

Next step:
-tune up
-replace chip with OEM PROM
-install factory boost silenoid
-restore vehicle to orignal ride height
-replace front drive axles
-replace tie-rod ends, ball joints and upper/lower control arm bushions
-install a nice aftermarket stereo

Re: No boost

figured out why she wasn't making boost.
-boost controller valve wasn't receiving 12 volts. Not sure what happened, but now when you turn the key to run, you will hear it pulsating now. With no voltage, the valve must have been in the open position, and allowing the boost to bleed. I will install a toggle so, when/if this occurs again I will be ready to continue riding without any issues..

Not sure where it's receiving it's signal from, but a straight wire will all ways work... I guess I need to remove all this wiring and redo it for good measures.

Also learned that the (ATR) Pitbull street chip requires a 3 bar map sensor, not a two.....

Accomplishments for today:
-Installed the plugs/wires/ignition button, disturb cap. First time I have to jack a car up to install some plugs. I have it down to a science now..... that #5 plug (3rd on driver side) was very difficult at first... then I decided to go underneath and it was a piece of cake. The other 2/4/6 were fairly easy, going over top of the passenger tire. They were the quickest to get done.

I gap my plugs at .033. The MFG, states .035. Not sure if this will make any difference. I should have followed the MFG's direction. Perhaps I will regap them tomorrow. I am sure this will help with better fuel economy.

Tomorrow ventures:
-replace rag joint on steering column
-clean her up inside & outside
-purchase a good deck

Sunday/Monday Ventures:
-Install new stereo, amps, mids (f/r) and subs

I would like to personnally thank everyone that offered suggestions to fix my No Boost issue....

Re: No boost

Update....
-Chuck and V from (SyTy) came over with a Syclone.. I got a chance to talk and discuss issue with my trk, also determine what's stock and what's not...
-Well, the turbo is not stock, not sure what type it is, but tomorrow I will remove it and find and get it check out next week.
-It also has an Ultimate boost mod selector, mounted on a ATR chip???? Don't ask me, but I am assuming this is a part of all of my boosting issues.
-connected data master up, adjusted the idle, found a couple of codes 35, 42 and 44. I just purchased the IAC, disconnected/reconnected the batter to fix EST Monitoring Error (timing cable-from when I adjusted the timing). Can't do anything with the lean condition.. So, I will only have one error.
-I need to replace the ART chip with a Stock one..... Does anyone have a stock chip for sale?

http://syclone.invisibill.net/memcal.html

The Ultimate only uses the ESC half of the MEMCAL, not the PROM that actually holds the tuning parameters. The ATR Pitbull should have the same ESC as stock, as well as being 2-bar like stock. If you're using it in the Ultimate adapter, your actual tuning has nothing to do what's programmed into that chip. The Ultimate has its own chip that stores the tuning data, and just piggybacks the stock/ATR MEMCAL for the ESC.

Re: No boost

Thanks, but that not reality. When I connect a two bar sensor, it doesn't idle correctly nor run correctly. I found a stock PROM and a stock ECU. I will have the truck back together in a day or two. I have an aftermarket fuel rail, regulator, turbo and boost controller. I really wanna pull the turbo and have it checked out before proceeding. I will know in a couple days what's what.

Re: No boost

Well, been away from the Ty for a while. I think I hurt the engine and now looking to install a LS 5.3.
