i have recently purchased a 91 syclone it has 255 pump,9/11 coverter, ultimate chip, fpr, and a recent tune up,it runs pretty well for a stock truck but i want to run mid to low 12's all the time not just 12.99 but sold 12's.were should i spend my money?or should leave it alone and store it?my truck has 46,000 miles so it is not a super low milage truck.

i got the laptop and turbo link, just cant get the right cable, also have the alky kit just havent installed it,i have a fuel pressure, boost and ultimate gauge monted on the piller, any of you guys by your turbo kits and air to air intercoolers from rpm?that is what i have been looking at just cant deside what size turbo or if i should go for the pte kit or the rpm kit.one has internal waste gate and the other has external waste gate.

Re: ok help me spend my $3,000 limit for mods

i ran my truck last night at the 1/8 mile track and it ran 8.4 @83mph with a 1.7 60 foot that pans out to a 13.02 in the quarter using the conversion table of 1.55 so i am close to the 12's now

Re: ok help me spend my $3,000 limit for mods

The conversion factor is a little lopp sided for us since we get a lot of good time made up in the first 1/8 because of our launch. I would say you are a little closer to a mid 13 second truck. The mods that Jimmy said will still get you in the 12's though:tup:

my 1/4 was a 13.5 @ 98 with an 1/8th of 8.52@79 with a 1.8 60ft. so you should be running a couple tenths better than me.

Allen definately has a strong truck, even in T1 it pulled pretty good. He already has a great base truck with all the upgraded parts to start going for the bigger mods, he just wants some feedback on where to begin for the mods.

8.4s @ 83 at the POS strip near us is hella good.

Definately going to get the chip tweaked on by Hood at our Daytona meet and go through the fuel tables, spark and timing at WOT....gaurantee that should drop you a tenth or 2 at least.

The Alky will definatley help as far as keeping MATs and knock low and being able to crank boost.

Those 9lb rims you said you want will make a diff :)

Dont know how you feel about having the spare tire with the assembly under the truck, and the jack equipment, but that will drop you quite a few pounts to be able to gain a few hundreths.

Rear sway bar or caltracs - Ive had both... sway bar was the best $100 instantly felt mod, the caltracs where also an instant felt mod. Most opt for the sway bar due to price.... either or I think is a good investment.

Lighter rear driveshaft.... you saw my DynoTech Aluminum one today :)

Re: ok help me spend my $3,000 limit for mods

I would put some time into tuning, but once you have that down. (at minumum I would 12.7 or better with what you have) Obviously put on the Alky kit. I would put on a PTE52 and 50lb injectors (around $2K) and start tuning that (that will actuall get you into the 11's) If the little stuff hasn't nickel and dime the rest of the budget put it towards a tranny fund.

dave you are saying i can run atleast 12.7 with what i got?how?when you say tuning do you mean go up to t-3 and run more boost on my ultimate chip or do you mean have someone reburn a chip for my truck?

I think it should be if its running right. When I mean tuning, I mean looking at your scan tool and figuiring out what parameters during a WOT run are not ideal or normal. I don't think you need any more boost or timing to do what you have run. If you look around pople have run 12.5 @ 106 with with what you have for mods and with a 'stock' ultimate (not a custom burnt calibration of the chip) If I had your 1.75 60's time the last time at the track, my truck would probably run 12.8 on T116 (and thats with all its KR) A lockup TC switch will probably net you a .1 or .2 in 1/4 mile ET, so that will help get you more toward that number.

Re: ok help me spend my $3,000 limit for mods

We've all done stuff to our trucks.

If I had 3K...

Turbo kit from RPM - Either PTE or RPM depending if you want to go external gate or internal.

Air-to-air from RPM.

You might have a bit left over for gas.
