I also think we really need to make a NEW post on this subject, simply to see who is comming and who isnt, and TRY to keep the chit chat down to a minimum, but we really need to pick a time and place before we do that, or its just going to be part 2 of this thread. My vote is for Nov. 9th or 10th (hopefully my truck will run by then) but ill show up anyway with or without.....I hope

I think Nov 2nd or Nov 10th were the date previously discussed, anyone got a problem with either one or want to have it another weekend?
Also, we had a few people offer garages and backyards, but we could also do an Applebees/TGI Fridays thing too, or even do that first and go to someones place afterwards. Lets go people, time is running short!

If you guys want to come here, (update) Sat Nov 2 is a bad day - Dad, Butch and I have a hockey game in the afternoon. (Unless you guys want to come cheer for us.) Sun Nov 3 is also bad, but it's not life-threatening if it's the only time we can make work - I can miss my afternoon plans, but would rather not. Either the 9th or 10th are still ok so far as I know. FWIW my personal pref would be Saturday the 9th.
Like Adam said, we have a Hooters nearby, about 15-20 minutes from my place. We also have Appleby's, Pizzeria Uno, Lone Star, Texas Roadkill - I mean Roadhouse :-? - Olive Garden, Chi Chi's, Ruby Tuesday, and TGIF all within 10 minutes. There's also a "racing restaurant" as my mom calls it - maybe that would be a good site. I just thought of it now, I'll check it out tomorrow. Grilling at home is still an option as well.
I can give people directions to any place around here, but since some folks have like 3 hours (or more) of driving, my recommendation is to meet away from the eatery - hopefully avoid the "we need a table for 15, but only 5 are here" scenario, then the others show after we've already eaten. I say meet somewhere, set a time that we'll leave to go eat, and if you're not at the meeting spot by then you'll have to call me. (I'll make copies of directions to the predetermined eatery for everyone, leave some copies at the house for anyone showing late.)
Also, with the daylight getting shorter this weekend, our time to look at trucks in the light will be minimal. I recommend meeting (wherever) around noon (so folks with long drives don't have to leave too early), and eat around 4pm, when the restaurants aren't so full. Then it'll get dark as we're eating. If folks want to leave after food, or stay longer, that's cool. I've been told that there's street racing at near the Hooters, but I've never gone since most of the cars normally in that neighborhood are '79 Corolla's and '84 Accords with 5" tips. (Remember, we have the highest murder per capita in the country....) Kinda like if the Fast and the Obnoxious was made 15 years ago, but without the cute asian girls. :lol: I just say no to street racing around here. :-?
Possibly of note: I'm trying to buy the house across from my folks, so if I can twist an arm maybe we'll have a larger warm area to hang out in if it's cold/rainy/snowy. (Still have to park in ma and pa's yard though.) I'll keep y'all posted as to the possibility of that one. Keep your fingers crossed.
Adam - It doesn't look good for this weekend. My grandfather (lives with us now) is scheduled to come home from knee replacement on Friday, and I'll be the only one around this weekend to take care of him. If things change and his release is pushed back, I'll give ya a call and tag along.
