Re: ProtoTy Project

Sorry for the slow progress but lots of other things have needed my attention lately.

But I did get the front diff installed with the CV axles and brakes

I also put on a fender and the wheels to see a little what it'll look like.

I have started taking the Typhoon apart. But I am trying not to lay it out all over the driveway, I guess it pisses the neighbors off. They have already called Zoning for running a "garage" out of my driveway. Oh well what to do.

Re: ProtoTy Project

got some work done yesterday, finally released the Sy motor from the rusty clutches of the Blazer that had been keeping it company since '93.

Re: ProtoTy Project

Now for the bad stuff. Besides that everything made of steel is rusty and falling apart, here are the other bads

These trucks are supposed to have a vette 700r4, these markings suggest otherwise

iIt seems that I may have found the source of my white smoke. It seems that the intercooler that sits right in front of the TB has a hole in it. Guess I'll be going A2A

and of coarse the quintessential cracked manifold

I have an upper intercooler tank and Burkett can weld that manifold or you can still get the headers from me.

I see some people making some stupid decisions climbing under that truck. We already lost 1 syty owner on this forum for lack of safety, please don't add to that list.

Hydraulic jacks can FAIL at any time. 1 wrong slip and your truck project will be your last.

Re: ProtoTy Project

ok folks I cant control my friends so lets get back to what this thread is about not what poor decisions that people I know make. Yes it wasn't smart and I don't need the whole SYTY community to tell me that it wasn't smart. So no one died, no one got hurt, no one got stitches, no one got a cast or broken arm, no jacks failed no jack stands failed no parts fell off the truck and don't think i didn't tell my friend that wasn't smart. Those were the only pictures that were took so I didn't have any other pics without that dumb ass move. And for your non-viewing pleasure I took down the pics!!

So at this point can we get back to the point of the thread?!

OK, I wasn't telling you what to do, I was just saying be careful. As a community, we look out for one another, like we are for you. Sometimes, (all of us, including myself) have made a regretable decision to get under a vehicle that we shouldn't have.
I would hate to see you or anyone get hurt because of a decision.
I agree to get back on point of the thread, but please do not take this as a personal insult, take it more as a community looking out for you.

I fully understand that you all are looking out. I have seen many threads get hijacked due to something like this and it's almost impossible to get them back. Trust me, my friend got a chewing from that dumb move. 99% of the time, in my driveway brakes aren't even done without a jack stand. My friend was grabbing the stands and rolled under the truck to retrieve a few things then I chewed his ass.

Now a question that I have is how do you calculate what size intercooler you need? I'm planning to go A2A and I want to know how big it needs to be. Also on the turbo there is a banjo bolt (engine side 3:00 position) is there something else I can use besides that banjo fitting? The line is so rusty I know that it will twist or break when I take it off.

Re: ProtoTy Project

I/C sizing: Call the mfg or fit as big as you can go is what most people do. I've never seen the math nor SAE docs stating themal eff. % for various cores. Who would've ever thought a powerstroke diesel i/c would work well on a GN.

Normally, I wouldn't post about jackstands or what folks do but we lost Myclone to the very same thing. He was a great asset to the community. He has and will be greatly missed.

Re: ProtoTy Project

well I have found out that a Supercharged Fiero will haul ass but it won't haul much else, It sure doesn't make for a good parts chaser. I have added another S series to my resume, this will be the 9th s series truck that I have owned. And this has AC!!!!!

Kinda resembles the ProtoTy-pe Project Truck

Re: ProtoTy Project

IS there a ty interior in the 93? If so, are you parting? I would be interested in the door panels if they are not chopped up!

Are you still interested? Make me an offer +shipping. They are in pretty good shape, the leather is excellent but the light gray part by the door handle on the drivers side is a little jacked up. Those can be found on any s10 door panel (after 89)

I do have a few other interior parts left over.

Sorry, I already got a set!
