whhy isit sioo hadr to mastterbat andd typ e at teh sam tim e ?/

way to much information - but thank you

Just think marty , only 40 grand more and shes done .

yep i keep telling myself that but here we are 80 grand later

Is that glass front bumper cover made with the support/mounting system integrated?

Actually it's just a glass cover - we are using one my prototype front support that doesn't have mounting brackets. We need to be able to mount the billet grille to the support instead of molding it into the fiberglass support.

Marty was showing one off at the Great Lakes Gathering last year. It's the middle one in this pic:

Yep - that support & cover weighed about 8lbs maybe 10lbs. It's now on the pro-street syclone that Caleb & I are selling.

Pretty nifty website. I like the 110 crumpled octane tag on your menu. You wanna help me build my GT now? ... I only have about 1/4 the budget you do though... *sigh*

The site looks pretty killer Marty. The link to Stainless Works is broken (space between the http:// and www).

Who did the work on the site?

Adam did the work. I have to come up with all the copy this weekend

thanks for the heads up on the broken link.

Re: Sonoma GT 0334 - Build Pics

Worked on the front bumper cover this weekend.

Had to modify the mounting tabs to work with a stock steel support.

Step one - Make sure you are wearing the proper safety glasses

2006_07_02_007.jpg

Step two - Carefully remove all of the mounting tabs

2006_07_02_004.jpg

Step Three - Take them to the grinder and reduce there size.
A long sleeve shirt may have prevented my forearms from itching so darn bad.

2006_07_02_008.jpg

Step Four - Glass all the tabs back on.

2006_07_02_011.jpg

Step Five - Drill the new holes

2006_07_04_006.jpg

Step Six - Run to local Sears and buy Stainless Steel bolts (did i mention i lost the original bolts)

2006_07_04_008.jpg

In the end it's mounted and it only took about 4 hours if you include the trip to Sears Hardware and the trips to the slop sink to wash my arms because they itched so badly.

Good Morning All,

Sorry I didn't get this out over the weekend.
It was hot here in Chicago so we decided to go to the water park and we even taught my daughter how to ride without training wheels. Looks like I am going to have to teach her how to ride on the Single Track Trails and get some air under her tires.

Okay back to the truck
The fuel cell is welded and finished.

Thank for the headers Mike.

Below is a picture of the downpipe with all of the flanges mounted
All of the Stainless Steel tubing came from www.stainlessworks.net in there rod builder kit.
The flanges were obtained from Burns & Race Proven Motors.

Re: Sonoma GT 0334 - Build Pics

Happy Sunday,

Dave was able to squeeze in a bunch of work this week.
He was able to get both front and rear bumpers mounted.
He came up with a pretty cool way to mount the bumpers and make adjust much easier.

Here is the mount for the front cover

2006_07_22_003.jpg

Plenty of adjustment up down so we should be able to nail the alignment perfectly.

Finished Product

2006_07_22_028.jpg

Since were on the front end - Dave Finished the steering shaft.

2006_07_22_029.jpg

Moving back to the rear end.
This is the beginning of the rear bumper mounting.

2006_07_22_007.jpg

Plenty of adjustments with this mount

2006_07_22_008.jpg

Just a quick side view

2006_07_22_009.jpg

Dave mounted the engine oil cooler on the Drivers Side.

2006_07_22_012.jpg

Okay rear cover view.

2006_07_22_016.jpg

Here are the plans for the end of the truck.
Remake the rear cover out of steel and incorporate the rear belly pan

Had some extra time today so i decided to roll the inner fender lip.

Really bad picture - but you get the idea.

That's it for this week.

Re: Sonoma GT 0334 - Build Pics

Hey Marty, as always you help inspire to continue with my project. I had a couple of quick questions for you. What all did you have to do to get the bumper to fount flush with the other cladding? Did you just weld that cylinder on and affixiate it to a molded metal piece, which in turn screwed (adjustably) to the bumper, or is there something else there that's not obvious? Second question. I've seen some GT's with the rear right cladding all solid. -All solid- meaning that there was no hole for the tailpipe. How expensive is it to do something like that? (Are you doing it too?) And who still does it?

won't this catch a ton of air while its moving? Seems like it'd create a lot of drag.

Thank you and no problem on the questions

First Dave Cut and Squared the Frame Rails - He then mounted a clamp style collar to retain the tube that will slide into it.

2006_05_26_055.jpg

Then he cut a tube that would slide in and out for front to back alignment

2006_05_26_064.jpg

Then we used a front bumper support that didn't have any mounting brackets

2006_05_26_066.jpg

Dave them made the shapped piece of metal to mount to the front support after he welded studs to the bumper support.

2006_07_22_003.jpg

There is plenty of up down adjustment to get the height dead on and the left to right only adjusts about 1/4".

Caleb Davis (Permanantly Stained Customs) does the modification. Cost around $250.00. Once we are done playing with this piece i can swap this one with yours (plus 250) if you are interested. This way you don't have to wait for Caleb to squeeze you in.

not to worry we are doing a bunch of research on this piece. It should actually creat less drag as it is above the lowest point on the truck.

The only problem we are trying to resolve is:
the cladding is mounted to the bed
the bumper is mounted to the frame
and the belly pan is mounted to both - not good

we have a couple idea's - but would love to here more if anyone has them.
