I knew about the 90 Corvette Marlboro, because its existance is often refered to as being the predecessor to the Syclone in articles about the Sy. I've never seen / heard any refrence to it being a ZR1. Are all 10 ZR1s????

I'm an ACTIVE C4 guy in National Corvette Restorers Society. I judged 5 C4 ZR1s last weekend in Kissimmee, Florida at the Winter Regional. I've never heard anyone in NCRS mention the Marlboros, ZR1 or not. I'll have to ask.

A problem will exisit when entering them in NCRS Judging. The 'standard' is "the way it was when it got to the end of the assembly line, exclusive of any owner or dealer inspired additions or deletions". "Factory Original"

The Marlboro graphics are an automatic 85 point deduction under "Body Paint". This is IF the paint itself is the original color, as specified on the SPID, and the "shade and the metalic content and/or size, if applicable, is consistant with that applied at the factory". If so, then there would be no deduction under "Body Color". (Another 85 points) If the shade is wrong, 20%. If 'red' isn't the code on the SPID, 100% deduction.

The wheels will also be a 'full deduct': 45 points. A replacement battery is another 10.

So it's at 140 with just the above three items. (I'm assuming it's the factory-applied red paint, here) A car is eligble for our highest 'concours' award, if the deductions are fewer than 145 out of 4510 points, i.e.a 97.0. There are 18 pages of judging sheets. A typical "McClellan Mark of Excelence" C4 has a raw score of about 50-75 points (99.1 to 98.5) , and no originality problems with body paint or color. So it seems a VERY nice Marloboro should score 95.4 to 96.0. Still a "top flight", but not the McClellan.

So, it's not likely to be of huge interest to a NCRS guy. Which IS the Vahallah of Corvette 'acceptance'. But still a pretty cool and rare car.

I am very well aware of NCRS. Just out curiousity, how are the Callaway Twin Turbo cars being handle in term of judging?

At the Honda display, there was an Element drift car that was sporting two stock SyTy upper ICs under the hood. That was the only SyTy related thing I found there. I took a short clip with my camcorder, and I'll upload a still later.

For anyone who doesn't watch: The ZR1 sold for 1 million (won by the "blazer guy"...the collector who changes the color of his blazer [jacket, not truck] to match the cars he's consigning). It was stuck at 900k and he upped his own bid to make it an even mil.

And in the geekiest moment ever, John Schneider stood on top of his General Lee and had the crowd sing the theme from Dukes of Hazzard. :roll: He got 450k for the charger.
