I thought the knock light was tied into your actual knock sensor readings? If your knock sensor isn’t seeing it then what the heck?

It's tied internally to a line that gets pulled low when the knock sensor is active.

Problem is, much of the knock is going to occur so fast, you'll never see the light light up.

Watch it with DM... you'll see how much knock there really is.

Re: T220 on stock truck

Yeah I have an autometer 30 psi boost gauge and I have the ultimate chip settings. For instance if I set the ultimate to T120, the boost guage boost to 20 psi. So if those two things match up I bet I didnt change my datamaster setting to a 3 bar.
I thought 1800 for a knock count was alot? Would'nt you consider that dangerous knock? SyTychips burned the chip for me. Should I call them and ask about the chip having 0 spark retard at 20psi with octane booster? Maybe they could send me a new one? What do you guys think about it?

Oh and I just thought I would throw this in there. I am running 50lbs of base fuel pressure.

Re: T220 on stock truck

Forget about the knock count (it's pretty much worthless). Focus on graphing the Spark Retard (knock retard) line at the bottom of Datamaster. Sometimes you have to set it up by double clicking one of the 4 line items on the lower right corner. That's where you really see the knock.

If your spark retard line remains low or at 0, then you should be thrilled! No reason to return the chip.

Re: T220 on stock truck

I am thrilled. Everyone else has knock probelms and I have basically no knock at 20psi with octane booster. Hard to beleive but I will take it. Thanks for everyones input.

You could always post your Datamaster .UNI file if you want some verification.

Re: T220 on stock truck

I can email the file. Im not sure how to post it up on the forum. Now that I changed to the 3 bar reading it looks like Im only running 18.7 psi. My boost gauge says 20. Thats different. Maybe I need to adjust my wastegate again.

Here's an article where they tested NOS octane booster, Outlaw octane booster, and the toulene mix.

Re: T220 on stock truck

I can honestly tell you the only product we have seen work is Torco Octane boost which ion the dyno make a diffrence and the less gas you have in the tank the better the mix which it tells you right on the can if your not spending more than 20 bucks for a can of booster its value is "junk". I would only trust a wide band AFR to be sure i don't have any knock. AFR can't lie!

Be Careful! I use to run 100 octane striaght no mix and "BOOM BOOM" it didn't say any knock but obviously the motor would argue that fact.

Re: T220 on stock truck

Ok things are starting to make more sense now. Two nights ago I ran datamaster and I wasn’t reaching 20psi when using T120. I was only running 18.7. Well I played with the waste gate a bit and now Im fully running 20 psi. Im even getting some nasty boost spikes. I WAS NOT OK TO RUN 20psi. I definitely got some timing pulled. I was on the hair edge being able to run 18 psi. But I would get a boost spike that would cause it to pull timing again. What the truck really wanted was the T116 setting. It was ok up to 16 psi and it was still ok with a momentary boost spike up to 17 or 18 psi. Looks like I was wrong because my wastegate rod was way too long. I really like how fast it spools now too :)
I apologize to the guys on here that were right and I didn’t want to listen. Thanks for every ones help. I think before I turn up the boost I will invest in some turbo blue unleaded 100 octane. Or maybe alky.

alky ftw, ran a stock truck all summer, t320 settings, with even more timing, and about 20psi
