The Ty Arrives - the 4300 mile journey!!!

A great day, indeed.

The ALASKA Ty has arrived and is tucked safely in the garage. Was buying a truck from Alaska on ebay, basically unseen, a good idea? Was waiting three months to get it and paying big $$ to ship it worth it??

YEEEES!!!

Do I miss my Syclone!? Not anymore! :D

Before I get to the photos, I have to thank some people:
1. All previous owners of this truck who took very good care of it. It is IMMACULATE!!
2. Tim and AKTy92 for checking the truck out for me in Alaska. During our first conversation Tim was at a loss for words and kept saying "It's perfect."
3. Jeff Scott...who hooked me up with his Dad in Tacoma who took delivery of the truck.
4. Ken Scott...Jeff's dad. Awesome. Great guy.
5. Everyone who's ever gone to check out a truck for me, including the Tennessee boys (Jimmy and Joe) who got me in to this love/hate hobby.
6. The guy in Texas who bought my Syclone and made this whole thing a lot easier. Wife didn't believe I could do it, but it's done.
7. My buddy in Vegas who set up corporate shipping with DAS.
YES...DAS!! They might be crap when it comes to retail deals, but obviously their bread and butter is corporate accounts...right or wrong (it's wrong), they treat corporate cars differently. Yes, their lots are made of dirt, but in my case at least, the car came east unscathed.

Interesting: Truck was purchased on 11/11 and received 2/22. Think my plates should read 1111222. (for now, it wears the Syclone plate) Truck traveled more than 4,300 miles, some of that ocean. The last leg is on carrier, but it was enclosed the rest of the time.

Car now has 40,018 miles. Supposed to rain today, plus roads are wet...so I won't be driving it much. :(

nice wheels next to the ty

you gonna bring the Ty up to state college in a couple weeks, and prove me wrong that you'll actually drive it?

congrats on getting it. Glad you made a liar out of me.

Mike,

Not sure if I'll bring it to PSU. Will you lend me your STi (or something else) to drive around town after I park the Ty IN your garage? I'm not taking the wheels off to clean them...at least not yet.

MaiTai,
The DAS lot in NJ was muddy. There are no more miles on the truck (well, a few) since leaving Jeff Scott's dad's place in tacoma.

Erik,
In the process of cleaning basement....that's all donation stuff that's headed out. Wife's car will be parked next to Ty. (the rest of the crap is Renz's. )

Shuggs,
Won't need much cleaning. That's just surface dirt. Engine bay and interior are SICK!! New avatar coming soon!!

My dad told me that was the cleanest Ty he has ever seen. He was very much impressed with it and the condition of the truck.

Glad to see it made it safe and sound.

Thanks Jeff. It is astounding.

There are two little mods to the truck that I'm considering undoing:
1. It has a Kenwood stereo and a CD changer in the center console. I'd like to get a stock radio and take out the changer. (if anyone wants to trade AND knows something about wiring, lemme know)
2. The truck is lowered...I might just take out the blocks and return to stock. Not sure I like it low. It almost seems as thought the back is slightly lower than the front. I don't mind stock height (case in point: the syclone).

Can't wait to see interior and engine pics. From all indication, you got yourself a gem!! The wheels even look MINTY which is rare on a vehicle w/40,000+ miles and that is a testament to the manner in which it was obviously cared for. BTW, keep it lowered...it looks much sweeter and handles better than having the tail in the air. What did you have to shell out for that one (if you don't mind me asking)? I am seriously considering closing on a MINT one owner California 93 with 74,000 miles by the end of the month and yours would be a great one to compare prices with.
