I am registered for the car craft show. I would imagine they will put us all together? Not sure how it works becuase this the first time I have a vehicle in the show. I have to work that Friday (July 25th) so I am game to meet up after work but I see the show ends at 6pm that day. What's the plan?

car crafts work by time you get in, look for a spot,or you have to hope somebody saves one, get there early the good spots(corners) usually go first. It would be hard to get them to put a group together ,but you never know, get there early enuff and maybe ther will be a group of sy/ty's in a row. Shoud be around 5000 vehicles or so.

I'll be there, no truck though :(

I'll need a motel, any areas I'd want to avoid?

Avoid north Minneapolis. Don't stay south of the river. If you don't have transportation while you are here try to find a hotel someplace were we can pick you up easily. I think the hotels in bloomington are the nicest for the price and have a large anount of bars within walking distance. There are good hotels around the Mall of America.

The hotel are nice around the Mall, but also pricey and you have a 20-30 minute drive to the fairgrounds. There's alot of hotels around the fairgrounds that are only a 5-10 minute drive away.

Cool. Driving or Flying? In town for longer, or just the show?

I would imagine the St. Paul hotels will be juiced.

Bloomington area ones are usually pretty decent. I've stayed at some in Eagan that were ok, too.

Downtown would be kinda spendy, I would think.

We stayed at a motel 6 that was 5 minutes north of the fairgrounds, also had a super 8 right beside it and a burger king on the corner. We had no reservations( back to the 50's weekend) and they had a couple rooms. Maybe try a google search and see what you can find.

look in eagan right off 35, not bad pricing over there. Holiday Inn express is pretty well priced.

Since you're gonna be otherwise occupied, do you want us to hang a flyer or two in the Car Corral for your Ty?

I posted to the Buick world as well, so hopefully we'll get quite a few cars/trucks showing.

Can I get a head count on who's up for Golf?
I'll need to have some lead time to get this set up.

Also, suggested Famous Dave's Location for cruise? Calhoun Sq. would be cool, but the parking/traffic/etc. nightmareish. There's plenty of them on the NorthWest side... anybody got any ideas?

The Weaver Lake Rd. one has that mall area nearby, which would make parking better. I would think there would be better locations to the east, though.

Would also like to get a head count for this, too, although I suspect I won't have a good number until that Saturday AM.

Guys that have been in the show- do they kick you out at 6, or let you leave it there?
(And if they let you, is security an issue?)

Stickman schedule:

Thursday night... rope-off.
Friday... show in AM, Golf in afternoon?
Sat.... show, BS, etc. Cruise out at about 5:00 for BBQ.
Sunday... Show and pack it up?

Can I ask the locals to get a list of area Hotels that they'd trust? Doesn't necessarily have to have blocks of rooms at this point, just looking for options to give people. If we can find a preferred one, I know it works better to have most of your people at the same hotel. (Parking lot fun!)

there is the hampton in off Lexington and 694 where btt50's sign up is. They are reasonable on rooms they are a pretty straight shot to the fair grounds as well as famous daves.

just a though.

I do not know if I will have a ty there but will my xtreme be allowed to hang out with you guys.

What do you think of the Super 8 in Roseville, by the mall(not mall of America). It looks like it's close to the fair grounds and the rate is $57(before taxes).

I'll be driving the 99 SS.

Better to use that for contact... my PMs are always full.

I'll beg for a sub-forum for the Admins.

Golf will be a non-skill thing... if you're a good golfer, you'll either be bored or really entertained.

I'll get with A&S and see what we can line up.

I'm sure the late-night stuff will be popular. I imagine university/Porkys will be Jammed...

not sure what else we want to do.

That should be plenty of stuff to do. A weekend goes pretty fast.

We need to get a decent sized white board for the show, so we can put directions/schedule/etc. up.

 come on by everyone is welcome when ever. Maybe get my mom out there in the white ty and show you guys how to boost launch .

But yeah I will be there hopefully in the Xtreme, or my El Camino. But can bring out one of the syty's for some fun too.

And the super 8 over there is a decent place and close by. Had some friends stay there and no complaints as I can remember.

Re: Upper Midwest Gathering? - Car Craft July 25-27

The Super 8 in Roseville still has rooms available. According to mapquest it's about a mile and a half from the motel to the edge of the fairgrounds and less than 2 and a half miles from any point on the fairgrounds(as the crow flys). It's about 100 yards from the Rosedale shopping center, so there should be plenty of parking, bars, and places to eat nearby. The AAA rate is $57.23 a night($62.66 w/tax). If there is a better place for more or less money, closer or further away, I'll cancel my Super 8 reservations. If everyone is staying at one motel, I'd probably stay there too. I don't know the twin cities area very well so anyone who does please chime in..
