WTB few things

I am currently looking for 1 good PCV from TB to the valve cover. This includes the hose, PCV fitting, and possibly the T. If some one has a whole assembly avail. I may take the whole part.

What I am seeing is a nasty oil drip in that area. Small puddle of oil is gathering under the TB fitting in the lower manifold casting. It appears the hoses may be hard and brittle due to the heat up there and have gone bad.

I am also looking for 1 power cable. Those who talk about the purple wire dilemma or remedy. I pulled my starter and it looks as if my cable for the power is clearly worn through to where it worn the casing off and already started to patina. From what I see I am lucky I did not have a fire.

If anyone has a cross reference or part number GM for the cable- Or some one has one laying around. Thanks

Re: WTB few things

RE PCV stuff. The grommet at the valve cover is available at the auto parts, standard GM part. The hoses are standard PCV as well. The elbows are a bit trickier, I haven't worked on those yet.

IMHO If you have a leak it should not be from the PCV system unless your PCV valves are bad or there are some engine issues overloading the system. Clean things up good and try to locate the leak. Oil in the area described could also come from the valve cover.

BUMP! I had some on look my truck over, the pointed out that my PCV stuff is wrong meaning not the correct part numbers on either tube. If anyone has good stuff I am still Looking

Also I am still in need of the power harness/starter/alternator. I looked at a project typhoon yesterday (parts galore) and guy was actually using the harness and it was BAD on the other side.

Can anyone DIG through any of there surplus for a good power harness. I was told to just make it but I can put the word out I need one here first.

The thing with mine is it is clearly worn against the trans mission case. NO its not the purple wire its the actual power starter wire which was worn badly RUBBED AGAINST TRANS.(others may encounter this wire being worn from hard launching) I strongly believe that it being worn/cracked/exposed it was not helping my truck run right at all, and was back feeding the 12v through the whole truck. Might explain why when I tried to JUMP out the diagonistic terminals awhile back the check engine just flashed like a strobe light. And the night before I moved my truck I was messing under dash where my copper boost signal tube comes through fire wall and it looked like a fire work show. i am no expert. to be able to actually see the wire worn I had to take the trans and all that out becasue it was like LAYING on the case(back side of wire). To add the starter would some what grind or sound like it over turned or slipped a tooth.. I put a shim in it thinking it was a issue and Now I am thinking it could be this wire again? Anyone have the harness or am I back to trying to figure out if its worth it to make one? I am big on OEM and original stuff. I have seen a few and they all been Hacked with old style (lead terminals). Thanks

Re: WTB few things

Would like to Bump this thread back, I am still looking for a good power harness. It has to have the OE battery terminal. In good shape no wire burn. This goes from battery, along back of fire wall to alternator. I have had no luck. Looks like this-

Location at fire wall

Thanks if anyone can confirm that I may be able to source the part in a junk yard? if it is a shared part on s10/blazers? Or some one just has a good one the would like to part would be a big help.

Re: WTB few things

If you can take the old one down to Interstate Bat they might be able make you a new one. It won't be "original" of course but it will be functionally identical.

Bump. Still looking for a power harness pictured In post #5. If anyone has a good harness, not modified that would be great. I am not sure if it is the same as a s10/s15 or similar platform truck as the harness look's like the intercooler power circuit is fused at the alternator and would make different. I am not 100% sure but it does look that way.

Re: WTB few things

No prob. Like I said it was worth a shot..

That cable pictured is from this guy I contact in NY. He too is selling stuff his problem is.. He has medical issues..and is not 100%. He did send me that pic and I was like wondering if there was more too it. ( he is doing a LS) ( say he dont know if he needs it and his time is very limited with his health)I been thinking it did a horseshoe around the back of the engine and incorporated the alternator and intercooler circuit. He told me that is on the main harness so I was mistaken.

I can try a yard part and see what I come up with now I know it is not exactly specific as I thought it was. As long as I can get the original red cap,the black power wire and a purple I think it will be good. I have been trying to just locate one from a syclone or typhoon
Never tried to go to a dealer or a parts counter. Was told over and over again to get one made..

Another member here has 2 he told me he would let me get one of them. I am sure something will surface. I still have most of my engine bay ripped down and have had this culpret cable just hanging for when the time comes

I was post #6 on that thread. Trust me as soon as I seen that... I was all over that and he mentioned it was not stock or in good shape..

Re: WTB few things

Does anyone know the original part # or a reference number for the positive side battery terminal?

I called up a friend with a few typhoons and just wanted to b/s with him for a little while. He asked me if I ever finished my truck and I explained the wire thing. His response was why haven't I gone to a auto parts store and get one there. I thought I would be able to retain the part here from the site. I don't even know if a parts store one would be exact spec.

I looked into a few online and the few I looked into were close but did not have a red cap to snap on the top of the terminal and prevent future arc outs.

So I am not sure how to find the parts code for them like the ac delco part #.Thanks

The one pictured looks like a 92 harness.

1992 harness.

1993 harness.

I hope this helps you find the correct part.

Re: WTB few things

Jay thanks for the pictures. 1991/1992 harnesses appear to be similar. 1993 could be different like you mentiom

The numbers are a bit hard to read I can make out the last digits

Is the top # a 120 # and the bottom 124??

Is there any hard documents on paper that list the #.

I have list here that covers body parts. Most of the #s start with 156...

Re: WTB few things

The 93 harness is also very hard for me to read. But it looks like the white tag is marked 12471139.

I know you want matching number parts on your Sy and it is completely understandable, But when it all boils down to it. Does it really matter on this part? What Im trying to say is that SyTy does not have judging like NCRS that I know of. So unless it is just personal preference, why cant you just get one that is close and change the connectors to work on your truck?

Re: WTB few things

The factory P/N I found for the Positive cable listed in my fiche is 15320834. Delco # 4SX61-2

My fiche lists the above numbers for all 91-93 ZR9/Z79 applications. This is incorrect, as the ABS connector is different in 93, as Jayson's pics above show. (I wonder who pointed that out to him?). You seem to be infatuated with "Factory Originality" which is very rare among .net Members. I know a little bit about this.... :grin:

``````````````````````````````````````
Well surprise, surprise! I remembered I have a brand new Service Replacement positive cable in my stash. It is a P/N 15320834. It has the 93 ABS connector. It has no loom on it, the alternator wire doesn't have the red stripe, neither wires have the fuse link, and the positive red boot is a different configuration than the original.
IF this part were being Judged under NCRS standards, it would receive about a 25-50% deduction on originality for its differences in configuration from the original. NCRS allows the use of "GM Service Replacement Parts" that differ in configuration from assembly-line parts. Aftermarket "Non-GM Replacement Parts" receive a full deduction on both originality AND Condition.
If the Battery Cable was assigned say, 10 points for originality, and 10 for condition, the GM service replacement would receive a 3-5 point deduction under Originality, Condition judged separately. The NAPA replacement cable would receive a 20 point deduction. Unless a part receives a minimum 10% originality credit, there are no Condition points possible.
So in NCRS restorations, that is the consideration for GM replacement, vs aftermarket replacement parts. The "Full Deductions" for both Originality and Condition can add up rapidly on a car that has not been preserved with "GM Parts". Which is the idea behind NCRS. Corvettes were assembled with GM parts, not stuff from Vatozone.
Your effort to keep your Sy GM-equipped is laudable, although rare around here. :tup:
Re: WTB few things
I spoke with John this morning , the older guy who had send me the picture of his part. ( jay posted his picture)
What I told him was that basically I would be better off laying my money down on a gm part.
I was hoping and more or less relying on one to surface here. ( trust me I look high and low for the parts and when I find something usually my first questions are is the wiring avail?) I ended up sending John multiple messages thatsbwhy we spoke this morning I kept bothering him about the part.
I trying to keep it within a certain originality spec.
For those who are curious, my condition is called anal retentiveness. Worse than OCD
Thanks for the post Dave. I will try looking but the one harness I did find which looks same.. Is not. So negative on the NOS boxed one I found.
