does it actually move in forward when you redline it? (also not a smart thing to do)
could be a torque converter issue or a number of hard parts.
either way you broke something, take it out and prepare to shell out some bucks.

could be a flipped sprag?? Im not sure if loss of reverse is a result of that or not.... i cant rememeber, ive broken mine so many times all the problems kinda just blur together.

where do you live? are there any performance shops in your area you trust? odds are youre not gonna be able to get anything with a warrenty so forget that idea.msheller said:

sounds like mine, broke sprag, sun shell, reverse drum and the input shaft I think... all on a nice 1-2 shift.

I called pro trans and I'm considering it.... Jwaller can you give me your #? ....and have you guys heard anmything about mad dog trannies(the godfather, the punisher) they apparently specialize in 700r4's...heard of em? I heard jwaller is the best

thought that was our dirty little secret
I vote output shaft...did exact same thing....no reverse, had to manual shift, over redline if I wanted to.

Check fluid, inspect pan. Look for metal fragments. It's very possible that you've completely filled the valvebody up with gunk. If the valves can't move, it will act very odd. If the governor or TV is crudded, it will result in very low or high shift points(in and of itself). Broken OUTPUT shafts result in kaboom, no move. The output shaft is the last piece the force gets transferred to before going to the transfer case. Impossible to move the truck if that piece is broken. At best, you may have low only if you break it high enough on the shaft. If you have to manually shift, you probably broke the nylon gear on the governor. I've seen that happen when guys change weights on the governor and then smack the gov cover right in the middle with the hammer to reseat it. The nylon won't take that. :2cents:

Flush and fill won't touch it. If that is what is causing it, the valvebody will have to be pulled and all the valves and springs pulled and the whole assembly flushed out. Then you'll fill it back up with crud. It's time to rebuild/replace it.
