I don't get how it could be stripped? It just threads into the center of the port on the fuel rail. If it was stripped I would think it would leak like crazy. Can you get a picture of what you're talking about?

the truck is off right now and i havent started it since its been stripped. I was unscrewing it once and the sides broke off somehow, and it just got worse so that it is almost hollow all the way down

I have a Syclone fuel rail in real nice shape for sale if you need it.

PM me if you want it.

Re: fuel rail test port help

some people think that it is too much weight and use a connection between the rail and the fuel line, i dont think it really matters , i was just wondering

It isn't a "think" thing. I've seen a few rails crack/break because there was too much weight on that test port while the engine vibrates. If it happens while the engine is running and hot, you've got a fire.

If you mount it directly on the rail, you need to find a way to support the sending unit, or mount it remotely through a hose.

If the schrader in the rail still works (ie, you push the center thing and fuel comes out, the buick world has a little adapter fitting that mounts on the rail without removing the schrader, which you can mount the gauge to.

Re: fuel rail test port help

Simple solution...

Take the fuel rail off. Drill out the center portion. Clean out thoroughly. Finish the install as you see fit.

Sure it won't work the way the factory intended, but it works for what you want to do. I had the same problem on a different vehicle and it drilled right out.

I chose option number two when I had an electrical fuel pressure gauge. I got the hose to connect between the fuel rail and sender from RPM. This is one that I mailed to a member overseas a year ago:

I then mounted the senders for both my boost gauge and fuel pressure in a bracket on the firewall beside the power brake booster:

^ I'm going to look into making something like that. I never considered the weight of the sending unit being an issue on the rail. Thinking about it now I can see where it may become an issue... down the road

It's not the weight as much as the distance of the weight from the rail.. that thing will be flopping all over under vibration. Eventually, the rail will fatigue crack, and/or break off.
