I didn't have any problems in the area of the boots. The wires got brittle in areas that were close (never touching) to any header piping. I did have my headers coated which should have helped over non coated headers. I had the woven ceramic sleves on the MSD wires and they still got brittle and cracked. One pair lasted only a month. That was the last pair of MSDs for me. I put on the Moroso wires and they are still on today...three years later.

I like Magnecor wires but they are suspect to heat from the stock manifolds. I learned alot when I used to go into their small production facility in Michigan. Especially the misconception of resistance and how much a wire should have. The Typhoon I just got has MSD wires. Plan to put stock AC wires on since I am making the truck all stock. Using the Magnecors on my beater Syclone. And Kenne Bells on my built truck that has headers.

I'm in the market for some new wires... I "may" have had problems with the Taylors or it may have been a bad cap/rotor or plugs.
Anyone not want to get these just because they are green and would look horrible under the hood? Especially with a red MSD cap it would look like a frickin' Christmas tree under there. :barf:

Couple questions...
If I pulled the sparkplug boot from the wire (on the Taylor's), is it pretty easy to reconnect it? Is a special tool required if so? I was pretty pissed when I did it so I just left the garage for a break and jumped on SyTy.net.
If I need new wires for a stock application... here is my understanding as to the ratings based on input in this post:

I'll be finding out soon enough...going to just measure what distance I need for 1-6 and order them from RPM. Then I'm going to heat wrap them with a kit from here:

FYI, I just measured the repaired Taylor about 24" long and it came it at 705ohms. This correlates pretty well with your 327 ohms/ft.

Well im in the market for some spark plug wires and thought i do my searching.....i ended up coming through this thread which is very helpful. I just want to know if any more good or bad opinions since the last post which was 2008. Im currently reaching out to hood to see what he says. I had the taylor 8mm wires and i cant say i was thrilled. Im think im going to try the MSD.

I bought my Taylor's from Hood 2 years ago and have had zero problems with them since. My vote is Taylor. I also run an MSD distributor and ignition coil so nothing against MSD.

I personally don't like the MSD wires. The boots get mushy with heat and are hard to click onto the plugs. My choice of wires are Taylor Thundervolt 50's most people here wouldn't choose them because you have to terminate the ends yourself. My choice was based on what I witnessed at a dyno. Guy put his truck on the dyno and they hook up a tach clip over #1 wire to get an RPM reading. It wouldn't work. No reading at all. I immediately looked at the wires he had on there. We took a stock wire and put it on #1 and it had a RPM reading with the cheap wire. This may be unscientific way of choosing but it tells me the electrons aren't leaking out of the insulation on these wires. One other thing that would make these wires more difficult for some with stock trucks is that they are 10.4 mm in diameter and won't fit in the stock wire plastic clips. Taylor claims they are 50ohms per foot.

I was looking into wire info this morning and came across this thread.
I contacted Granatelli to see what info they had on SyTy wires. They said they still carry them, but the part number is different then the one Rick posted earlier.
From Granatelli the number is: 261422S
From Jegs: 36-1422MPG
Either way I just wanted to update everyone in case they're interested. Granatelli wires are still running $105.00 a set and they guarantee zero ohm's. If the time ever comes that they don't carry them a custom built set runs $150.00.
On a side note I measured a wire on my Camry for shits and giggles, 5,000 ohms per foot :rotf:

Their maf's are junk, programmers are made by SCT or Diablo so I can say with about 100% accuracy you are buying someone else wires with their name on it.

Granatelli is a joke in the ford world.. copied other peoples parts with junk materials i'd stay away everyone who took the cheap route and purchased there stuff regretted it
