call me crazy but i did not see an o2 sensor on the dp. How did you get the stock 97 ecm to work?

Sorry i missed this post. The only o2 sensor that i have is on the crossover pipe. The ECM has a custom program in it. It really does not know that there is a turbo in the truck. No Error codes = easy emissions

if the computer doesn't know that a turbo is installed, how then will the computer compensate for the excess if air flow?(assuming your using the stock MAF). maybe your getting spark knock because your leaning out the mixture with to much air and not enough fuel for the PCM to recognize it. i also could be talking out of my ass, but:dunno: .

The guy that did the program has set-up many newer s-10 PCM's for turbos. i am not sure how he accomplished this, but i have purchased a separate computer program for tuning my truck and i will know soon. I need to make other minor adjustments with fuel regulation and shift points. The spark knock is not bad at all right now, but then again i am not quite getting the boost numbers that i should be. I am a rookie when it comes to turbos but my room mate is an expert. I remember this coming up before but i am not sure how or what he did to get around this issue. I will talk to him this evening and let you know.

what type of info are you looking for. the widest might be a 255 or 265 depending of sidewall height and tire brand.

I would like to have 275 ZR 45's for the rear and 245 ZR 50's (which i have all around right now) for the front. I would settle fo a 265 in the rear but i can't even find those.

you might have to get the rear rims widened, if you want to stay with 16s.

Whatever it is, it sure would have saved me from using the silicone one I settled for on my a2a I/C project!! hook us up with a part number for future reference please....looks good man!! why the 97 computer? I'm retty sure the 749 ecm would be way better for you....

I was only part right. The part we ended up getting was actually from "Trick Flow" and not from GM (GM wanted twice as much). The part number for this elbow coming off the throttle body is TFS-3150800.

Nice job with the conversion.

Were you able to get your AC hooked up? I saw that is was disconnected and was wondering if you had custom lines made or what you did to get that hooked back up.

I have a 97 as well, and am considering buying syty manifods and adding the turbo.

A/C works great with all stock lines as well as all of the other components. The only thing that we have not been able to hook up yet is the cruise control which is not a big deal it just hasn't been a priority. The only problem that i really have had is the amount of crank case pressure. For some reason it is extremely high causing oil leaks. I am at a little bit of a loss. I know the rings are good and the pvc is functioning but still a lot of pressure.

If you have crank pressure at idle, most likely you have either a hole in a piston or broken rings. If its happening under boost maybe your PCV valves isn't sealing under boost and is pressurizing the engine crankcase. It has to be coming from somewhere, but infortunately its usually from the cylinder pressures leaking...

Re: 97 Sonoma SYTY Conversion

are you going to add an air deflector to channel air through your intercooler? The way its mounted, it doesn't look like it would do you any good

Wouldn't i be seeing oil on the plugs if there was an issue with the pistons or rings? Cus there is no evidence of this at all. I just had the plugs out 2 days ago.

This same intercooler has been mounted onto several cars without a deflector and there did not seem to be an issue with functionality. How much would this really help in terms of HP?

cooler air is gooder.

It looks like it'd function more like a heat sink than an intercooler right now

What would you suggest for the application? I certainly do not want to generate more heat. I have a nos spray kit that I was going to install, but i wouldn't be using that at all times. By the way you make it sound something totally differnet needs to be done. Thanks for your help.

Re: 97 Sonoma SYTY Conversion

May its the angle of your picture, but it looks parallel to the ground. You want air flow through the IC, it will make a huge difference. Usually SyTy atleast have their IC mounted at an angle, most have some sort of scoop or deflector.

I don't have any first hand expereice with blow by and how the plugs look.

Look at #2 of the buyers guide.

There is a 2 inch drop in angle from the front to the back of the cooler.
